1. You must be 18 Years of Age to Rent Books2. You are entering into an Agreement (“Agreement”) with Encore College Bookstores Inc. (Encore). All rented Books must be returned on or before the agreed date, to the location from which they were originally rented as per terms of this Agreement.
3. Rented Books must be returned in Salable Condition to be determined by Us. Salable means the book must be intact and complete with no damage no excessive highlights, writings or markings. Normal use is permitted.
4. Rental Items not returned by the due date, lost, stolen, damaged or deemed unsalable will be subject to “Non-Return-Fee” You authorize Encore to charge your credit card for the “Non-Return-Fee” which is automatically charged to your card on file as per this agreement which is (A) 75% of the New book price plus (B) a processing fee of 7.5%. New Price is based on the New Price at time of rental.
5. You agree to use your credit card as security. You will not cancel, exceed the credit limit until the rented textbooks are either returned to Encore or the non-return fees are applied. In the event the credit card used as security is no longer valid, or the limit on the card has been exceeded, you will be billed for and agree to promptly pay the “non return fee.”
6. Encore College Bookstores standard refund policy applies.
7.At the moment, Encore College Bookstores does not ship materials directly to you. All rental materials must be picked up at the store location. Please have your credit card and valid identification with a copy of this rental agreement at the time of pick-up.
8. Encore is not responsible for reminding you of your rental due date. Any notifications will be a courtesy, you and you alone are responsible for complying with the due date.

Textbook rentals allow students to rent their textbooks from our bookstore (for a specified term) as opposed to buying them. It is a cost-effective and useful option for students who do not anticipate keeping their books or for students who prefer not to go through the process of selling their books back at the end of the termWhat does it cost to rent a textbook?
The fee for renting a textbook is based upon the type of textbook you are renting. Generally it is between 40% to 50% of the retail price of the textbook at the time of purchase. What that means is that the $100.00 book your looking to buy will not cost you anymore than $50.00 to rent.How much do I save with textbook rental?
Over 50%! That's right, renting textbooks saves you more than 50% over the cost of purchasing a new, printed textbook.What is the process of renting a textbook?
Come into our store and set up an account that will have your credit card on file and allow you to make rentals. You can alternatively checkout a rental book on our site and come into the store with your credit card to pick it up. You will not be charged for this order until you complete the process at our location.How do I pay for my textbook rental?
All forms of payment currently accepted at the bookstore can also be used for rentals. We do require a credit card be kept on file, even if you pay with a different method. Why? Just in case you forget to return your book we’ll need to charge you for it (refer to section on Fees).Why do you need a credit card if I am paying for the rental some other way?
If the textbook rental is returned after the due date, or is damaged, we use the credit card on file to pay for a replacement book and processing fee, as described in your Rental Agreement. We want you to bring the book back so we don’t have to charge you!How long is the rental period?
The rental period begins the day you pay for the textbook rental and continues until the day after the last day of finals, as shown on your Order Confirmation. All rented textbooks must be returned to the bookstore, in good condition, by the Rental Return Due Date.Can I return my books by mail?
Currently we only accept returns and pick-ups at our physical location. Not via mail.How do I know which books are available as rental?
We post the list of Textbook Rentals on the bookstore website and in the bookstore. If you’re shopping in the bookstore look for signs in the book aisle. Online, it’s really easy – if we’re renting a textbook, the “Rental” option will display in your book list alongside “New” and/or “Used” (if available). Just check the box and follow the instructions.What happens if I drop a class?
The drop/add policy for rented books is the same as for purchased books. Return the book to the bookstore within the allowed period along with drop/add documentation.Can I get a refund if don’t drop a class?
Yes! The same return policy applies to rented textbooks as to purchased textbooks. Assuming of course that you have your receipt and return the textbook in good condition along with any components such as CDs, etc. that were included with the textbook when you rented it.Can I buy my rented textbook?
You may decide to convert your rental to a purchase through the second week of classes without any additional charge. To do this, you must contact your bookstore. We will credit you the rental charge and charge you for the book. If you return your book by the Return Due Date, you can decide to purchase the book at the used book price.Can I mark up the inside of the book with a highlighter or make notes in the margins?
Normal use of highlighting and writing is permitted. The bookstore will use the same standards for determining acceptable condition of rental textbooks that it uses for determining condition of books sold back as used books.Can the bookstore refuse to accept my textbook rental when I return it?
Yes, the bookstore can refuse to accept your rental book if it is not returned in good condition. Good condition will be judged by the bookstore alone, and generally means book spine intact, no excessive damage to cover or contents, all original pages intact, all original components present, and no excessive highlighting, writing or other markings. Normal-use highlighting and writing is permitted. If the bookstore determines your book to be not acceptable for return, then you will be charged for a replacement copy and a processing fee.What happens if I do not return the book by the due date?
You will be charged for a replacement textbook along with a processing fee. The replacement cost and processing fee will be charged to the credit card on file. The book will be yours to keep.What happens if I lose a rented textbook?
You will be charged the replacement cost plus the processing fee for any book not returned to the bookstore, regardless of the reason. These fees are in addition to the rental fee.How much are the fees?
